Press release - General government deficit and debt - second notification of 2011 - 21st October 2011
In 2010 the general government deficit of Hungary amounted to HUF 1 127 billion, 4.2% of GDP according to the preliminary data of national accounts. The government data were calculated on the legal grounds of the Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP) in the methodological framework of the European System of Accounts (ESA95) and were reported to Eurostat.
According to the figures of the National Bank of Hungary, general government debt amounted to HUF 21 750 billion, 81.3% of GDP at the end of 2010.
The deficit is by 7 billion higher than it was published on 30 of September because of change in accounting of EU transfers.
