Experimental statistics
Experimental statistics developed alongside traditional official statistics, reflecting the rapid changes in modern society and technology. It focuses on the renewing of statistical theories and practices, in particular the development, testing and application of experimental techniques such as the management of large datasets, the use of innovative data sources, and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence. This approach alters considerably from the traditional, often more time-consuming methods of official statistics, enabling researchers to react more quickly to social and economic changes.
